ACH Configuration

Learn how to set up Standard ACH configurations, generate NACHA files, and manage ACH file exports in CashCloud.

Written by CashCloud Team

ACH, also known as Direct Deposit, is an electronic payment method used to transfer funds between bank accounts. In CashCloud, ACH Configuration allows you to define how your Standard ACH payment files are created and delivered to your bank.

To access this module, go to Settings from the left sidebar. Under Banks, select ACH Configuration.

👀 Note: This module applies only to Standard ACH payments and not to Enhanced ACH.

Understanding the ACH Configuration Page

The ACH Configuration page shows all ACH configurations created for your company. Each configuration is connected to a bank and may be set up for manual or automatic NACHA file generation.

From this page, you can search for an existing configuration, view its status, see whether automatic export is enabled, and check the last export date. You can also open an existing configuration to view or update its details.

You can create as many ACH configurations as needed by clicking Create ACH Configuration.

Creating an ACH Configuration

To create a new ACH configuration, click Create ACH Configuration from the ACH Configuration page.

Start by selecting the Bank you want to use for this configuration. If the bank is not available in the dropdown, you’ll need to create it first from the Banks module.

Next, complete the required NACHA configuration details. These fields are grouped into sections such as File Header, Batch Header, and Entry Detail. The information entered here is used to generate the NACHA file that will be sent to your bank.

Because NACHA requirements can vary by bank, we recommend confirming these details with your banking partner or your CashCloud onboarding team before saving the configuration.

Once the required information is complete, click on the Create ACH configuration. After the configuration is created, you can then decide whether NACHA files should be generated manually or automatically.

In the ACH Configuration page, click on the latest configuration card to open it.

Manual NACHA File Generation

With manual generation, NACHA files are not created automatically. Instead, you choose when to generate the file.

This option is helpful if your team prefers to review and control when ACH files are created and submitted to the bank.

To manually generate a file, go to the Manual generation section, select a date range, choose the bank account, and click Generate file.

Keep in mind that the bank account dropdown only shows bank accounts that have Standard ACH enabled.

Once the file is generated, it will appear in the History table, where you can download it and send it to your bank as needed.

Automatic NACHA File Generation

If you prefer a more hands-off process, you can enable automatic generation. When automatic generation is turned on, CashCloud creates NACHA files on the schedule you configure and sends them to the FTP or SFTP location you provide.

To enable it, turn on the Automatic generation toggle in the Connection Information section. Then, enter the required connection details, including the connection type, site address, port, username, password or SFTP key authentication, and folder path.

You’ll also choose how often CashCloud should generate and deliver the file. This can be set to run hourly, daily, or weekly, depending on your company’s process and your bank’s requirements.

Once saved, CashCloud will generate and deliver NACHA files based on the schedule you configured.

Viewing ACH File History

The History table shows the NACHA files that have been generated for your ACH configurations.

Here, you can see details such as the file ID, bank account, created date, processed date, and status. You can also download previously generated files using the download icon on the right side of the table.

This gives your team an easy way to review past ACH file activity and retrieve files whenever needed.

Updating an ACH Configuration

You can open an existing ACH configuration at any time to review or update its details.

From the ACH Configuration page, click on the configuration you want to open. From there, you can review the bank, NACHA configuration fields, manual generation options, automatic generation setup, and file history.

If you make changes, click Update ACH configuration to save them.
