Local Check Printing allows your team to continue printing checks as a contingency plan in the event that Cloud Printing becomes unavailable. Instead of using CashCloud’s cloud printing network, checks are generated as downloadable files that can be printed locally by your organization.
⚠️ Important: Because these checks are real, negotiable financial instruments, this feature includes additional enablement steps, security acknowledgments, notifications, and audit tracking.
Before You Begin
Local Check Printing must first be enabled for your company by our support team. Once enabled, Company Owners can activate the feature from the Services module.
Keep in mind that this feature is only visible to Owners.
To enable it:
Go to Services
Locate the Local Check Print card
Turn the service on
Review and accept the Terms & Conditions
Enter your initials to confirm acceptance
Once enabled, Local Check Printing becomes available for all bank accounts in your instance.
Printing Checks Locally
When Local Check Printing is enabled, users with the Disburse Payments permission will see a new Local print option in the Disbursement tab under More options.
This option is available only for check payments.
When you select Local print, CashCloud displays a warning reminding you that the generated files contain negotiable checks and must be handled securely.
After confirmation:
CashCloud generates a ZIP file containing the checks
A secure download link is emailed to the user who initiated the action
The download link expires after 2 hours
The payments then move to the Completed tab (unless another processing issue already exists).
In the payment details:
The Destination column displays Local printing
The payment timeline includes the note: ⚠️ Locally printed
Downloading the Check File
The secure email link opens a CashCloud-hosted download page where the ZIP file download starts automatically.
The page also includes a manual download button in case the automatic download does not begin.
Since these files contain negotiable checks, make sure they are:
Stored securely
Printed using approved check stock
Protected from unauthorized access or duplication
⚠️ Important: checks must be printed at 100% scale so the MICR line prints correctly.
Digital Copies and Emails
A digital copy of each locally printed check is still created within CashCloud. If you have an SFTP connection configured, the digital copies will also be uploaded automatically to your configured folder.
If your Output Workflow is configured to email digital copies to payees, those emails will continue to be sent as usual.
Notifications and Audit Tracking
Whenever Local Check Printing is used, CashCloud automatically sends a notification email to:
Company Owners
Users included in Email Notifications for Transactions
The notification includes:
The user who generated the checks
The number of checks generated
CashCloud also logs all Local Check Printing activity for audit purposes, including:
Enabling or disabling the feature
Acceptance of the Terms & Conditions
Local print file generation
Timestamp
User
Number of checks
Bank account used
