When a payment goes through PayShift, the payee receives an email asking how they would like to be paid. The options shown in the email depend on the payment types your company made available in the PayShift rule, such as ACH, Check, or Digital Check.
Payees receive one PayShift email per payment. This means that if the same payee has multiple payments going through PayShift, they will receive a separate email for each one.
The payee will have to perform a verification step to confirm that they are indeed the receiver of the payment.
Choosing a Payment Method
After opening the PayShift email and verifying their identity, the payee can choose their preferred payment method from the available options.
Once they make a selection, the payment is automatically updated to the selected method and moves forward in CashCloud. Your team will then be notified that the payment is ready to be disbursed.
Choosing ACH
If the payee chooses ACH, CashCloud will check whether that payee already has bank account information saved in their profile.
If saved bank accounts are available, the payee can choose from those existing accounts instead of entering the information again. CashCloud will show the last four digits of the account number and routing number, and indicate which account is currently marked as the default.
Existing bank accounts are view-only in this flow. The payee can select a saved account, but they cannot edit or delete bank account information from the PayShift screen. This helps keep your company in control of the payee information stored in CashCloud.
The payee can also add or connect a new bank account. When a new bank account is added through PayShift, it is saved to the payee profile under the Bank Accounts tab and becomes the default account for future ACH payments.
Saving a Preferred Deposit Method
When choosing how they want to be paid, payees may also have the option to save their selection as their preferred deposit method.
If the payee selects “Use this as my preferred deposit method,” future payments will automatically shift to that method at creation. This means the payee will not receive a PayShift email for future payments that use that preferred method. This is especially helpful if you send multiple payments to the same payee and want to reduce the number of emails they receive.
As a best practice, you can send the payee an Onboarding Invitation so they can verify their personal and bank account information. After onboarding is complete, you can set their preferred deposit method to ACH. Once that is set, future payments will be processed automatically as ACH without requiring the payee to choose a method each time.
After the Payment Is Disbursed
Once the selected payment method is confirmed and the payment is disbursed, the payee receives a confirmation email.
For ACH and traditional check payments, this email confirms that the payment has been sent. If the payee chooses Digital Check, the email includes the Digital Check as a PDF attachment. The payee can print and deposit it just like a traditional check.
